Black People’s Names

Why is it that only black people are called Jordan? Michael Jordan, Barbara Jordan, Vernon Jordan. And why is it that only white people are called Rockefeller, Rothschild, and DuPont?

Steve Sailer October 29, 2007 at 11:49 pm: There was another Michael Jordan who was CEO of Westinghouse when Michael Jordan was with the Bulls. The CEO Jordan was white.

According to Nathanael Weyl’s books on surnames (which you would enjoy), “Washington” became increasingly black over the generations and by the 1960s four of five Washingtons were black. Perhaps something similar is happening with “Jordan.”
tvoh October 30, 2007 at 4:29 am: Don’t forget Hamilton Jordan, but pronounced Jerden. He was a good ol’ boy in the Carter administration.
